But First… Let’s Talk About Selfies

Feel good today by having fun with selfies!

Check out this video of Yvonne and Janice Marie finding their perfect selfie poses on this week’s episode of Look Good Feel Good Do Good.

Sometimes taking a great selfie is all about the tools you use.  Sometimes it’s about your pose.  Here are some of our favorite tips and tools for taking that perfect selfie.

Tip #1: Find your perfect angle.

Selfies are all about using the right angles, as you can see from the video.  And to help us get that perfect angle, we love using a selfie stick.  Here’s one of our favorites.

Tip #2:  Take a Selfie with another person or thing.

Tip #3: Use a ring light
Whether you use a small ring light attached to your phone, or a big, professional ring light, this is the key to making your eyes pop and taking a fantastic selfie.  The ring light illuminates the face in all the right places, makes your makeup pop, and reflects light in your eyes, giving you a professional picture your friends will go selfie-crazy over.
Here are the different lights we used in the video:

This small ring light has three different settings and it’s very portable.  It’s also inexpensive so there’s no excuse for not having one.

LEDGO Ring Light (LG-R320C)$250.00

While this ring light is not portable, this light is a must have for anyone with a love of photography or selfies.  You can also attach your digital camera or video camera.  You won’t need much else when you have this ring light!
Tip #4: Don’t forget to glow!
Not only are highlighters all the rage for makeup this year, but it’s also key to a great selfie.  Highlighting the high points of the face, down the bridge of your nose, and the cupid’s bow of your lip, will brighten up the face and catch the light for your selfies.

Now for the looks!  We love makeup here at Pink Society Life and Look Good Feel Good Do Good and it was so much fun doing Yvonne and Janice’s makeup for this video.  Here’s what we used for this video!

All About that.. Base.

Yvonne is wearing one of her favorite foundations.  It’s a perfect match made in heaven with Kat Von D’s Lock-It Foundation in shade 53.  It’s only $35 and it has the most amazing coverage.  It’s even good enough to cover up any dark spots on Yvonne’s face.  20005_2053.jpg

Janice is once again getting a completely airbrushed look and feel with Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation $48. MJ30008_MJ3021.jpg

All about the GLOW!

Highlighter is one of our favorite things!

Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Yvonne’s highlighter is Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter by Marc Jacobs $44.  This highlighter feels amazing on the skin.  It is very hydrating and looks stunning.

On Janice, we used the tarte limited-edition tarteist contour palette. Price: $45.00 Buy Now.

The highlighter in the middle of the palette is wonderful to illuminate the face without being too sparkly.  This palette is also great for being on the go.  It has matte contour powder and blush.  It’s great for throwing into a weekend bag or your purse.

Give me that Pout.

Yvonne used a combination of Huda Beauty’s liquid lipstick in “Trophy Wife” and the Too Faced Sweet Peach Oil Lipgloss $19.00 in “Peach Fuzz.”  Janice used a Bite Amuse Bouche Lipstick in “Pickled Ginger.”

Eye See You.

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, eyeshadow on the eyes are the curtains.

Yvonne’s eyeshadows was made with the mauve shades from the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette $49. We used “Summer Plum” all over the lid, “Charmed, I’m Sure” to contour the lid, and “Peach Pit” to darken the smokiness and line the bottom lid.
To line the eyes Yvonne used the Too Faced Sketch Marker in “Black” $20.

Janice got eyelash extensions so we skipped mascara on her today.  Eyelash extensions are a great way to make your eyes pop without having to apply makeup.  It’s like having mascara on already!

Yvonne used her usual favorite Tarte’s amazing Sweatproof Mascara $21.  This is a tried and tested mascara.  It won’t run down your face, not even at the gym.
